Seven Jewish Children (A Monologue for an Indian Child), is a performance adapted from Caryl Churchill's controversial 2009 playlet, Seven Jewish Children : A Play for Gaza, which was written in response to Israel's assaults on Gaza in 2008-'09. The original play, which lasts ten minutes in performance, charts the arc of history of the Arab-Israel conflict over the last seventy years, and in so doing, weaves a tragic melody of loss and remembrance, dispossession and reprisal. This adaptation is being staged in response to the ongoing state-sponsored genocide in Kashmir that is being perpetrated by the Indian paramilitary forces.

Performed by Arka Mukhopadhyay and Qawwali singer Saqlain Nizami, this adaptation uses original text written in response to the ongoing genocide in Kashmir as well as Agha Shahid Ali's lines, and lasts between thirty to forty minutes.

Date : Saturday, July 17th
Venue : Akshara Theatre, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, New Delhi
Time : 9:00 PM

There is no entry fee. However, a collection will be taken for Medical Aid for Palestinians after the performance. Audience members are also requested to bring a candle each for the performance.
